Equalities

Our school’s mission statement talks of valuing the individuality of all of our children. We welcome our duties under the Equality Act 2010.  We are committed to giving all our children every opportunity to achieve the highest of standards. We do this by taking account of pupils’ varied experiences and needs. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum, and have high expectations of all children. The achievements, attitudes and well being of all our children matter. Our policy is intended to help to ensure that this school promotes the individuality of all children, irrespective of ethnicity, religion, attainment, age, disability, gender or background.

Every person in the school community, whether teacher, support staff or child, has a fundamental right to equality of opportunity and we aim to provide this irrespective of religious persuasion, ethnic origin, cultural or linguistic background, gender, social group or disability. We belief that education has an essential role to play in promoting positive attitudes towards diversity amongst all pupils and staff. We recognise the importance of the people in our school as our most valuable resource and we are committed to developing the potential of both children and adults.

Equalities Information

We recognise that the public sector equality duty has three aims, to:

  • eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and other conduct under the Act;
  • advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not;
  • foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
